About Membership
engage works through its members to promote access to, understanding and enjoyment of the visual arts in the UK and in 15 countries worldwide.
engage members are those who deliver learning programmes in the visual arts, including gallery educators, artists and artist
educators, as well as students, teachers, curators, youth and community workers, policymakers and others involved in arts
education and the visual arts.
"Learning plays a central role in galleries and visual arts organisations, adding to the experience and enjoyment of the
visual arts. Over many years I have seen engage develop as a great advocate for gallery education, providing invaluable
support to those working in the sector."
- Sandy Nairne, Director, National Portrait Gallery, London
engage is the UK's most effective advocate for gallery education in the visual arts. You can read more about the organisation
here.
You can join engage as an individual member if you work freelance, are self-employed or are a student. Or,
your organisation can join - museum, gallery, school, arts organisation, health authority, local authority or any other organisation with
a visual arts and learning focus.
To support the professional development of freelance and self-employed members, the cost of individual membership is heavily
subsidised by engage. Organisational members of engage gain benefits including half-price job advertising and the option of
substituting staff at engage events.*
