Arts and Business Scotland gets funding boost
The Scottish Government is providing an additional £50,000 of funding for the Arts and Business Scotland New Arts Sponsorship grants scheme to be used for the remainder of this financial year 2009/10. Grants have already been awarded to 31 new business and arts partnerships, and the grant scheme has generated £583,283 in total for the arts in Scotland. New Arts Sponsorship Grants aim to:
* increase the number of businesses sponsoring the arts in Scotland
* encourage cultural organisations to approach businesses that have not sponsored the arts before, or have not sponsored for at least 3 years
* encourage non-Scottish based companies to sponsor arts activities in Scotland
To read the full guidelines on the scheme and how to apply go to

engage South West Area Group - Visual Roots Dissemination event
2-6pm Thursday 11 March 2010
Venue: Arnolfini Bristol
Since New Labour came to power in 1997 there has been a flurry of government funding for vulnerable and hard to reach young people and the arts (Creative Partnerships, Arts Award and so on). In recent years arts institutions in the UK have been funded to set up youth projects. We propose taking time to reflect on these initiatives in order question government agendas and the impact these youth initiatives have on the institutions hosting them.
The discussion will be illustrated by presentations from:
Young Arnolfini Artists Collective
Tate St Ives enquire project exploring delivering the Creative and Media diploma
Plymouth Arts Centre’s YPAC will discuss their involvement with the programme.
Frances Bossom will discuss Arnolfini’s work experience model of good practice.
Refreshments will be provided.
The event is free but booking advisable, to book please contact helen.davies@arnolfini.org.uk
