Artworks Children’s Art Day 2000 - 2006

Children’s Art Day is an annual day of events to celebrate art in schools and galleries, museums, art centres and science and discovery centres, as well as in unusual places all over the country. It usually takes place around the first weekend in July.

In the past, engage has managed the Artworks Children's Art Day grants programme on behalf of the Clore Duffield Foundation offering 50 grants of up to £500 to support innovative gallery-based projects throughout the UK celebrating the Day. The aim of the grants was to enable galleries and museums to reach out to local schools and educational groups, to initiate and organise exciting and innovative first-hand experience of art and artists.

The grants programme ended in 2004 due to a review of the Artworks programme by the Clore Duffield Foundation.

engage aimed to promote good practice in gallery education through these small projects and to give galleries an opportunity to try out new ideas and to link with new groups.
