Go Fly a Kite!
Dates: Sunday 12 July
Times: 1.30pm to 4.00pm (drop-in)
Whatever our age, it’s hard to forget the excitement and sheer joy of successfully launching a kite into the sky for the first time, even if it flies only for a moment before nose-diving back down to earth!
Join us to celebrate Children’s Art Day and the final weekend of the Castle’s 'Skies' exhibition with this fun event that is partly about making, partly about wishing for the right weather conditions!
The art in 'Skies' encourages stargazing, cloud spotting, weather watching and looking off in to the great blue yonder. So take inspiration from the bright and breezy work in the exhibition, as well as the views from the Castle out over Nottingham, to make and decorate your own kite; then ‘send it soaring’ above the Castle Green. (If the English summer weather lets us down, kites will instead ‘fly’ up the gallery walls indoors!) Expert advice and materials will be on hand to make kites both large and small.
Target audience: Ages: 7-11; 11-14; Families;
This is a family event.
