“Children's Art Day has created a new focus for celebrating achievement in the visual arts.”
Sir Nicholas Serota, Director, Tate Gallery

“Art is the ultimate playground: a place for fun, adventure and innovation. Seeing art at first hand can be hugely beneficial to children and families, whether it's through working with an artist in the classroom or visiting one of the UK's brilliant museums and galleries. Children's Art Day is a vital way to engage children and young people in something which will help them learn and bring them lifelong pleasure.”
Loyd Grossman OBE

CAD 2010 Children's Art Day is the UK-wide programme encouraging children, young people, families and teachers to engage with the visual arts. Events took place across the UK between 12-18 July 2010, click here for a full listing.

Organisers across the UK devised participatory visual arts events, and received support from engage to run and publicise their events.

New for Children's Art Day in 2010 will be a visual arts competition 'Look Out London' for London schools from April to September 2010, which invites schools to use drawing as a basis for developing art and design projects through a variety of media. The competition, in partnership with The Big Draw is backed by Boris Johnson, Mayor of London, who is a keen draughtsman and champion of drawing. London Schools (including those running Children's Art Day events) are invited to submit examples of visual arts projects carried out by students: find out more here.

Children's Art Day 2010 is managed by engage and supported by the Clore Duffield Foundation and the Mayor of London.
