Watch this Space 6 is a funded professional development programme for galleries, teachers and gallery educators in England,
to enable them to gain first-hand experience of each other’s work, in order to initiate, build and sustain relationships.
"Involvement in Watch This Space 5 has been essential in developing the required knowledge and experience to improve the
Galleries' educational programmes."
Gallery educator, James Hockey Galleries, University of the Creative Arts, Farnham, WTS5
"As a trainee teacher this has been a hugely valuable experience. It has given me an insight into gallery education and its
value in the classroom. I think is essential and important."
PGCE Art and Design Student, Liverpool John Moore’s University, WTS5
"Watch This Space was an excellent model for me. I have been teaching for seven years and I admit I rarely use the local
gallery, or any gallery, as a teaching tool, for many different reasons, lack of confidence being the main factor... something similar
should be available for more teachers in the future."
Secondary Art Teacher, Liverpool, WTS5
Watch this Space places teachers from non-visiting schools in galleries and early career gallery educators in schools.
Watch this Space 6has a focus on: the new Key Stage (KS) 3 curriculum; the Diploma in Creative and Media; cross-curricular
working; working with initial teacher trainees and early career teachers.

Teacher Placement Scheme
Galleries are funded to host up to three teachers from non-visiting schools on placement for four days. By getting to know the
gallery, its education programme and the opportunities for partnership working, the teachers and galleries are supported to organise
student visits and build long-term relationships. Gallery hosts attend planning sessions organised by engage.
Teachers receive six days’ cover payment to enable them to attend two training days organised by engage, spend time at the gallery,
plan and carry out a student visit and develop project work.
Gallery Educator Placements
Gallery educators are funded for nine days. They arrange a three-day placement in schools which regularly use galleries to gain knowledge
of the curriculum, teaching and learning methods and how gallery visits impact on classroom teaching. Gallery educators attend three days of
training with engage and receive three additional days funding to complete project work related to the placement.
