engage London Area Group Meeting:
Exploring Youth Friendly Practice
National Portrait Gallery, London
Wednesday 25 February
14.00 - 17.30
This hugely popular free seminar explored youth friendly practice in galleries
through case-studies and discussion. It was aimed at youth leaders, educators,
artists and others working in a gallery or museum context.
Speakers and young people spoke about their experiences of being involved in
envision projects, and about peer-led youth practice, reaching a youth audience
and youth volunteering.
Some feedback from delegates:
"The mixture of young people's programmes in the different venues, the
different approaches covered and of course the presence of some of them there
too made it an entertaining and relaxed as well as informative afternoon. My
head was buzzing with ideas!"
"This is the first engage event I have attended
and it certainly gave me a great first impression. Working in a small community
arts centre as the only education member of staff can be challenging in many
ways, however listening to the wide variety of guest speakers at the meeting
left me feeling positive and inspired."
