| Summary | Recent years have seen an explosion of Visual Art Festivals and Biennials - according to the Biennial Foundation, over a hundred biennials of contemporary art currently exist globally, with new biennials constantly in development.
What opportunities are offered by this growth in practice? How do artists, educators and local communities engage with and respond to the Festival or Biennial format? In partnership with GI LEARN we are holding a FREE discussion event that aims to look at the kinds of possibilities such event-led Festivals and Biennials might offer in terms of education and public engagement and what potential there might be for experimentation, partnership and legacy. Speakers will include Wanda Wieczorek and Ayse Gulec from Documenta 12 and Jude Thomas, formerly Liverpool Biennial and now at the Waygood Gallery in Newcastle.
After the event Trongate 103 will be open late for First Thursday, an evening of art, conversation, performance, food and drink.
Support for this event is gratefully acknowledged from the Scottish Arts Council’s LEARN Fund, G-MAC, Trongate 103 |
