engage 23 Disability and Access

engage 23 looks at the theme of disability and access in the context of art organisations. The articles reflect on the history of Disability Arts, the legislative context, current discussions about the social model of disability and practical suggestions for removing institutional barriers. There are examples of gallery projects and of recent research into disability representation, as well as a reflective account of the challenges faced during engage and Shape’s recent programme, Explore: disabled and deaf people engaging with galleries. Contributors include Tom Shakespeare, Katherine Araniello, Katy Culbard, Michele Taylor, Geraldine McNamara, Marc Steene and Leanne Turvey.
